DUBAI, April 24, 2025 — Malaysia is positioning itself as a regional AI powerhouse by ramping up digital talent development and expanding its data centre infrastructure, announced Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo at the Machines Can See event at the Museum of the Future.
The National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO) is spearheading efforts to align talent needs across ministries, ensuring a robust pipeline of skilled professionals. “NAIO helps us collaborate across sectors to nurture and retain top digital talent, empowering Malaysians to lead in AI innovation,” Gobind said.

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) is driving initiatives under the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint 2025-2030 to attract global talent and streamline digital skill development.
Gobind stressed the need for a broader approach to tech education, advocating for relevant modules from primary school onward to prepare future generations for a tech-driven economy.
Alongside talent growth, Malaysia is emerging as a regional data centre hub, attracting global investments.
“Our infrastructure, resources, and policies make us a leader in this space,” Gobind noted, highlighting that data centres are critical for powering AI and fostering innovation and job creation.
The government is committed to a cohesive strategy, integrating talent, infrastructure, and policy to cement Malaysia’s role as a digital economy leader.
